Tech25 is excited to be a part of the 2025 USITT Conference in Columbus, OH, where we will join other industry leaders in presenting a series of impactful workshops focused on education, diversity, and innovation in the live events and entertainment fields.

Soundgirls will also present valuable live sound sessions, fostering career growth and industry connections for women and gender non-conforming individuals.

Friday March 7


11:30am-12pm: How to Optimize Diversity in Education with Tech 25
Interested in what you can do to help improve diversity, equity and inclusion in the live events industry? Join Tech 25's Jordan Gilliam and Carolyn Slothour as they talk through their proven methods for improving accessibility and diversity in the industry through education and collaboration. Leave this session with ideas for steps that you can personally take home with you in order to make the industry a more inclusive place for people of all backgrounds. 


12pm-12:30pm: Live Sound 101 with Soundgirls
Getting started in live sound engineering or looking for advice for your live sound career journey? Join Carolyn Slothour (Soundgirls New York City chapter head) and Laura Moeller (Soundgirls Pittsburgh chapter head) for a chat about the key skill sets needed to be successful in live sound engineering. Leave this session with ideas for your next steps and resources to learn and network with other professionals.


4:30pm-5pm: Maximizing Resources and Impact: Tech 25's Scalable Model for School Districts
Discover how your district can harness cross-departmental collaboration and minimal equipment to deliver real-world, media-rich learning experiences that prepare students for an ever-evolving digital future. Tech25 has developed a flexible, 36-unit curriculum that merges technology, creativity, and critical thinking across all subject areas—ensuring maximum impact even on limited budgets. Join us to explore the synergy between AI integration, event production, and cross-curricular storytelling in one cohesive, scalable model that transforms education.


5:30pm-6pm: Dynamic Live Visuals: VDMX6, ISF Shaders & Show Control Integration with Tech 25
Discover the power of VDMX6 for live visuals in performances! This workshop covers the fundamentals of VDMX6, its built-in plugins, and how it integrates with other software like QLab, MadMapper, and more. Learn how to use ISF shaders for real-time visual effects and explore creative workflows for dynamic, responsive visuals. Whether you’re new to VDMX or looking to expand your show control setup, this session will provide practical insights and hands-on demonstrations. VDMX is Mac-only but free to try—come see what’s possible!


Saturday March 8

10:30am-11am: Soundgirls Networking Chat
Soundgirls is an organization whose purpose is to provide a support network for women and gender non-confirming folks working in the professional audio industry and to assist those with a drive to be successful in audio. Women make up only about 5% of the professional workforce in audio and music production. This profession thrives on word of mouth and networking. Soundgirls gives women working in the industry an opportunity to meet and network with other industry professionals, creating a strong support network. Join us for a chat with some of our members and allies to expand your knowledge and your professional network.
