Summer Job Program
The Tech25 Summer Job Program is a transformative, hands-on experience designed to prepare teens and young adults for their future careers. Through training in audio production, videography, and the live event industry, the teens and young adults gain valuable job readiness skills while connecting with their local history and community.
Guided by experienced Tech25 educators and guest speakers from the arts, media, and community sectors, the teens and young adults are introduced to the exciting possibilities within creative and event technology-driven fields. They work with professional-grade audio and video equipment, as well as editing software like Ableton Live and DaVinci Resolve. This comprehensive program takes place in Tech25’s collaborative workspace, with several field trips to local historical and cultural sites.

Program Highlights
Orientation & Training: Participants begin with a thorough introduction to program expectations and an overview of career opportunities in media, technology, and live events. Foundational training includes the science of sound, practical use of audio equipment, and the basics of financial literacy, emphasizing the importance of a paid program in fostering responsibility.
Skill Development: Teens and young adults delve into audio engineering, sampling, DJ techniques, and videography principles. They learn to organize digital assets, and manage files effectively on both Mac and Windows platforms.
Field Trips & Community Engagement: Field trips with instructors to sites like the The Andy Warhol Museum allow participants to explore local history while learning to navigate the city using Pittsburgh Regional Transit. Pre-trip research helps them prepare media treatments, enhancing their storytelling and technical skills.
Creative Project Creation: Teens and young adults apply their knowledge by producing video clips, songs, and DJ mixes. Advanced sessions on editing encourage creativity and innovation, culminating in showcases where participants present their projects to peers and staff.
The Tech25 Summer Job Program not only prepares participants for success in creative and technical fields but also fosters a lifelong connection to their community. By bridging creativity, history, and professional development, the program inspires a new generation of informed, capable, and passionate individuals ready to make an impact in their chosen paths.

These positions are offered through The Learn & Earn Summer Youth Employment Program, which is designed to provide meaningful work experiences and career exposure to low-income young adults residing in Allegheny County.
Tier 2 programming provides youth with career competency development in a work setting with supportive employers and a caring adult supervisor who acts as a coach to guide their development and prepare them for internships and/or employment with private businesses.
Learn & Earn is made possible through a partnership with Allegheny County, the City of Pittsburgh, and Partner4Work. There are a limited number of positions available. A completed, eligible application does not guarantee placement. Placements are made on a first come first serve basis. Students have between now and April 21 to choose Tech25 as a worksite. Because placements are not guaranteed, applicants are advised to complete applications as soon as possible for the best chance at a placement.
